Laundry

Remember when we used to do laundry wearing our high heels? No, I don't remember either, but I'm sure our mothers and our grandmothers did, according to the magazine ads of the fifties! This print is available in my shop, along with other retro cuties engaging in their domestic chores.

Nope, I don't remember that either. But when I was a kid my mom had to do the whole families laundry = we never did our own. It was all washed and folder and put away on Saturday. Sunday was for ironing dad's shirts.
I do have photos of my grandparents all dressed up to go on a plane - that was a really big deal!

I remember helping my mom hang laundry out to dry on a clothes hanger in the backyard. I guess that shows my age. Not surprisingly those contraptions are making a comeback in this Green-conscious world we live in now!

No, no, lots of people still have clothes lines! And yes, I loved when my mom hung out our bedsheets as they always smelled so good!
We had a close line on this house, but it's only a 1 storey house and we're tall - so we literally would "clothes line" ourselves. One day the rope that was tied to a tree broke and I never put the clothesline up again. I don't miss ducking in my backyard, but I do miss hanging up the sheets. Now I just hang clothes on hangers from the gutters! LOL

Very funny! Your house must look very exotic on laundry day!
