Just yesterday I came across a Chinese proverb that I liked: "You often find your destiny on the path you take to avoid it". Sometimes I worry so much that my dinner party will be a disaster that it becomes one!
As a married couple, I invited a couple over to our apartment to share dinner with us. I don't remember what we fixed for dinner, but the couple argued the whole time. It was like we didn't even exist. The next time, I cooked a whole ham with pineapple slices, cherries and cloves. The woman who was the date of my friend at Art Center didn't tell me she was Jewish. Oi-Vay!
